Tigers boys beat Mustangs, lose to Trojans

TSnews The Eisenhower Tigers boys basketball team opened last week with a Monday win at home over Salina Central, 46-41, then lost to Andover, 53-40, on Friday. Facing the Salina Central Mustangs, the Tigers had built a 14-point lead by the start of the fourth quarter, at which point the Mustangs started to make up some ground.

Argonia wins thriller over West Elk

TSnews The Argonia Raiders girls basketball team could not have picked a much better way to head to the postseason. Trailing the West Elk Patriots by one point in the closing seconds of last Friday’s game at Argonia, Autumn Coleman sank a jumper ahead of the buzzer to lift the Raiders to a 29-28 win.

Lions girls beat Railers

TSnews The Goddard Lions girls basketball team went 1-1 last week, winning at Newton on Monday, 46-34, then losing at home versus Salina Central, 44-37, on Friday. Newton is still winless for the season at the start of this week, but Lions head coach Jeremy Heim said they have been improving throughout the year.

Bowlers start regional action

TSnews Two Clearwater Indians took part in the Class 4A regional bowling tournament, hosted Monday by Clearwater at Let’s Roll Seneca in Wichita. It was one of the earliest regionals on the schedule, with most taking place in the latter half of this week.

McClellan making third trip to State

TSnews Cheney Cardinals wrestler Parker McClellan has become a fixture at State wrestling during his high school career. The 150-pound wrestler earned his third trip to State last Saturday when he took second at the Class 4A regional at Rose Hill.

Indians sending two boys to 4A State

TSnews The Clearwater Indians will be sending two boys to the State wrestling tournament this weekend after both earned their spots last Saturday at the Class 4A regional tournament at Rose Hill. Cooper Woodruff (285 pounds) took third at regionals, while Dylan Hanna (138) placed fourth to earn return trips to State.

Willis headed to 6A State for Colts

TSnews The Campus Colts boys wrestling team is sending one to State after he turned in a strong performance at the Class 6A West regional last Saturday in Garden City. Trent Willis (113 pounds) is headed to State for the Colts after a seventh-place finish at regionals.

Four Lions win 5A regional titles

TSnews The Goddard Lions had four boys win regional titles and will be sending five more to State after taking second last Saturday at the Class 5A West regional in Newton. As a team, the Lions finished second with 200 1/2 points, 14 1/2 behind regional champ Bishop Carroll.
