Cardinals boys finish fifth

TSnews The Cheney Cardinals girls track and field team had much to be happy with after Thursday’s Class 3A regional at Fredonia. Not only did the Cardinals tie with Garden Plain for the regional team title with 113 points, but they also are taking a solid group of athletes to State.

TSnews The Garden Plain Owls boys and girls track teams had a Class 3A regional meet to remember last Thursday at Fredonia. The girls shared the regional title with Cheney with 113 points, while the boys took second with 77 points, two ahead of thirdplace Frontenac and eight behind regional champion Wichita Collegiate.

TSnews The Campus Colts baseball team came painfully close to making it to the Class 6A State tournament. The Colts and the Washburn Rural Blues were scoreless after seven innings in last Thursday’s Class 6A regional final at Campus, but Washburn Rural scored a run in the top of the eighth inning to take a 1-0 win and the regional title.

TSnews The Campus Colts softball team held an early lead in the Class 6A Washburn Rural regional final in Topeka last Thursday, but could not hold on in an 8-6 loss to the host Blues. The Colts took a 4-3 lead in the top of the third inning, but Washburn Rural answered with three runs in the bottom of the third and never trailed again.

Clearwater Indians returning to State softball

TSnews The Clearwater Indians softball team had little problem earning a return trip to the Class 4A State tournament, rolling past Hugoton-Moscow 15-0 last Tuesday in the semifinals of the Class 4A Clearwater regional, then downing the Buhler Crusaders 13-3 later that evening in the championship game. Clearwater coach Tyler Hampton said it is “outstanding” to be returning to the State tournament.

EHS Tigers headed back to State baseball

TSnews The Eisenhower Tigers baseball team used a strong combination of strong pitching and timely hitting to earn a return trip to the Class 5A State tournament. The Tigers did so by winning the Class 5A regional tournament at Bishop Carroll last Wednesday, allowing just one hit in a 4-2 semifinal win over Hutchinson, then downing the host Golden Eagles 2-0 in the championship game in eight innings.

Most people accept that avoiding poison ivy is good advice, but Kansas State University horticulture expert Cynthia Domenghini said doing so starts with correctly identifying the allergenic plant. Domenghini said poison ivy grows in multiple forms with varying leaf appearances.

GMS names cheer squad members for 2025-26

GODDARD – The members of the 2025-26 Goddard Middle School cheerleading squads have been named. The eighth grade squad will include Jorja Wharton, Elle Norton, Kendal Garner, Madi Coade, Cami Koller, Sydney Daas, Kurrency Shepard, Aubrey Sones-Williams, Bxriley Dougan, Braylee Potter, Olivia Spoon and Peyton Medlam.

Colts’ Bloom wins league title in 1600

TSnews The Campus Colts boys and girls track teams competed at last Thursday’s Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League Division I meet at Derby and had one athlete come away as a league champion. On the boys side, Brody Bloom won the 1600, while Emani Buncombe took second in the high jump.
