Teams struggle at home meets

Colts nab third place at home meet

TSnews The Campus Colts girls swimming and diving team finished up a run of five straight home swim meets to open the season, placing third in a 10-team meet on April 15. Derby was the easy winner with 436 points.

Tigers still unbeaten

TSnews The Eisenhower Tigers girls soccer team went into this week still unbeaten after a close call at Derby on April 17. The Tigers gave up a goal about five minutes into the game, head coach Roger Downing said.

Cards flock to Kingman, Halstead

The Cheney Cardinals track and field team did not compete last week. The team took part in the Kingman Invitational on Tuesday; results were not available at press time.

Colts grab medals at Great Bend

TSnews The Campus Colts track and field team brought home several medals from last Thursday’s performance at the Jack Bowman Invitational at Great Bend High School. The Campus girls were seventh among nine teams with 45 points, and the boys were eighth with 27 points.

EHS-GHS competes at Wichita North

TSnews The Eisenhower and Goddard girls swimmers and divers continued their inaugural season at Wichita North last week, taking part in a two-day meet. The Tigers placed 16th in the 18-team field.

Campus Colts lose 2

TSnews The Campus Colts girls soccer team lost twice last week, falling to Andover Central 3-0 on April 15, then losing a competitive match to Mulvane, 4-3, on April 17. Colts head coach Casey Reece said Andover Central is a good team.

Lions beat Winfield

TSnews The Goddard Lions girls soccer team hosted Winfield on Thursday, April 17, winning 10-2. “I gave the girls some very specific objectives and things to execute in that game; certain things they had to do in their buildup plays in order to score – and that’s what they did,” said Lions head coach Ali Heithoff.

Owls fly to sweep of home track meet

TSnews The Garden Plain girls and boys track and field teams picked up relatively easy victories at the Wayne Pipkin Invitational, the Owls’ home meet. The girls won with 173 points, while Wichita Northwest was second with 112.

Ike girls, Goddard boys win at Augusta

TSnews The Eisenhower Tigers girls track and field team edged past Valley Center for a team victory at Augusta last week Thursday, edging the Hornets by a half-point, 90 to 89.50. The Clearwater Indians finished third with 78 points.
