Body The Clearwater Indians took part in their last regular- season meet at Circle High School in Towanda last Thursday. It was a big meet with 13 teams.

Body The Conway Springs Cardinals girls track and field team won its first team title this season, flying over the rest of the competition in the seven- team field at Chaparral High School. The Cardinals scored 191 points, a full 100 points over runner-up Chaparral.

Body A dozen teams competed in last Friday’s Goddard High School Invitational. The host Lions boys had the best local finish, placing fourth with 61 points.

Body Swimmers and divers from the Campus Colts and from the Eisenhower and Goddard Tigers took part in last week’s Maize Invitational, held over two days last Friday and Saturday. It was one of the largest meets of the season, with 26 teams.

Body The Clearwater Indians softball team will take some momentum into Class 4A regional play after sweeping a pair of contests at Wichita Trinity last Thursday, taking the opener 5-3 and the nightcap 4-2. But more than that, last Thursday was a record-setting day.

Body The Cheney Cardinals performed well in their final regular-season meet before this week’s Central Plains League meet, with the girls winning at Hesston and the boys finishing third.

Body Boys players from Conway Springs and Eisenhower high schools qualified for State tennis tournaments over the weekend, while Campus and Goddard saw their seasons come to a close. The Conway Springs Cardinals won their league tournament on May 5, then hosted their regional.

Body The Garden Plain girls claimed the team title at last Friday’s Larry Brown Invitational, hosted by Remington High School in Whitewater. The top three teams were far ahead of the rest of the field.

Body The Cheney Cardinals are the champions of the 36-hole Invitational, winning both the Hillsboro and Marion legs of last Friday’s tournament.

Body The postseason looms for local soccer teams, with regional seedings to be announced this weekend. Going into this week, the Eisenhower Tigers still sat atop the Class 5A West Regional standings, with a 14-0-0 record.
