TSnews The Campus Colts and the combined Eisenhower and Goddard swim team competed last Thursday in a large 13-team meet in Haysville. Derby was the runaway winner with 465 points.
TSnews Young talent performed well for the Campus Colts at last Friday’s track and field meet at Maize. Freshman Jeramoni Metcalf-Jones had another good meet for the Campus girls, as she placed second in the 100-meter hurdles and third in the 300 hurdles.
TSnews The Clearwater Indians softball team continued its hot start to the spring as they took a doubleheader Monday against Circle, winning the opener 6-3 and the nightcap 7-6. Kaylee Hampton had three hits in the opener, while Makena Hampton homered and doubled and the trio of Madi Clevenger, Taylor Nielson and Liv Miller each had two hits.
TSnews The Eisenhower Tigers baseball team came into this week on a four-game winning streak after taking a a pair of doubleheaders last week, rolling at Liberal last Tuesday (14-5 and 13-2, respectively) and sweeping a pair at Newton last Friday (15-4 and 8-4). Ethan Trometer had four hits in the opener at Liberal, while Bryce Engel and Colton Doll had three apiece and the duo of Isiah Lyons and Jace Brunswig had two apiece.
TSnews Boys tennis teams in the TSnews area were all in Goddard on April 11, competing in the annual John Markham Spring Classic. The Campus Colts finished 14th as a team.
TSnews The Garden Plain Owls and Clearwater Indians were among the 12 girls teams and 10 boys teams who competed and earned points at last Friday’s track and field invitational at Pratt. The Garden Plain girls were in the mix in the top third of the field, finishing fourth with 58 points.
Lions lose to Maize South TSnews The Eisenhower Tigers girls soccer team continued its unbeaten start to the season last week, beating the visiting Campus Colts 8-2 on April 8, then winning 1-0 at Maize on April 10. The Colts got their two goals first, giving them a 2-0 lead early.
TSnews Athletes from Conway Springs, Argonia and Cheney took part in last Friday’s participation meet at Conway Springs. With unlimited entries per event, no team scores were kept.
TSnews A number of local athletes took part in the annual Shocker Pre-State Challenge, a two-day meet at Wichita State University held in conjunction with the K.T. Woodman Collegiate meet.
TSnews The Cheney Cardinals softball team downed the Conway Springs-Argonia Reds 11-1 in the thirdplace game of the Central Plains League tournament last Thursday. Cheney and the Reds both won earlier in the day to earn the right to play for third, as the Cardinals downed Medicine Lodge 11-2 and CSA beat Chaparral 14-2.
