Joe Leon Slechta, 83, beloved husband, father and grandfather, of Conway Springs, passed away Sunday, Sept. 1, 2024, surrounded by his family at his home.

Joe was born was born Aug. 13, 1941, at Liberal to Joe Frank Slechta and Rose Marie (Schlehofer) Slechta. He moved with his family to Sumner County near Anson in 1948. He attended the Anson School, where he met his lifelong best friend, John Myers. He then went on to graduate from Conway Springs High School with the class of 1959. He began working at Oxwell in Wellington before operating a local service station.

Cindy Kim (Barnes) Hodges of Harper, retired LPN, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2024, at Kansas Medical Center in Andover.
Kim was born Nov. 3, 1959, in Wichita, to Darrel Dean Barnes and Carol (Tull) Barnes. She grew up in Norwich, where she attended Norwich Public Schools and graduated in 1977.
Kim was united in marriage to Robbie Royce Hodges on Sept. 11, 1983, in Norwich. They made their home in Harper, where they raised their family.

Keith “Bacon” Campbell

Keith “Bacon” Campbell, age 71, retired Pearson Construction heavy equipment operator, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2024.

Celebration of life will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at Webb-Shinkle Mortuary, Clearwater.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence “Ray” and Mildred “Millie” (Blumenshine) Campbell, and siblings, Bob, Muff, Raymond and Garry Campbell.

Clifford G. Boone, 79, retired Boeing Aircraft supervisor, of Conway Springs, died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024, at his residence.
Clifford was born June 28, 1945, in Wichita to George Tingley Boone and Margaret Mary (Mertens) Boone. He grew up in Derby and attended Derby public schools. He graduated from Derby High School with the class of 1963.

Pamela Jo (Hegi) Adams, 67, of Norwich, died Friday, Aug. 23, 2024, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.

Pam was born Aug. 22, 1957, in Wichita to Billy Carrol and Aletha (Russell) Hegi. She grew up in Wichita, where she attended Wichita public schools. She attended Wichita North High School until her junior year, when she left to begin working and start a family. She later went back and received her GED in 1981.

Antonya “Toni” Hullinger

Antonya “Toni” Hullinger, 59, was a loving wife, mother, daughter, teacher and friend. She left this earth Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice at Ascension Via Christi-St. Francis, Wichita.
Toni was born on Feb. 2, 1965, to Shirley Evans. She grew up in Santa Monica, Calif., and graduated from Santa Monica High School in 1983. She received her bachelor of science degree in English education from Northern Arizona University in 1989. Toni’s first teaching job was in Gallup, N.M., at Gallup Middle School, where she met her husband, Gregg Hullinger.

Richard L. Seidl

Richard L. Seidl, 72, of Mount Hope, passed away on Aug. 21, 2024.

He was born to Valentine and Marie Seidl on Sept. 10, 1951, in Wichita. Richard had two children, Heather and Samuel. Richard was a graduate of Andale High and was a proud, lifelong resident of Ost. He was a dairy farmer, truck driver and a tree nursery worker. Richard had a very strong work ethic and was a very loving father and grandfather.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Valentine and Marie Seidl.

Charles C. Gimbel

Charles C. Gimbel, 80, of Norwich, retired mechanic, passed away Sunday, Aug. 18, 2024, at Ascension Via Christi-St. Francis, Wichita.

Chuck was born June 4, 1944, at Wichita, the son of Harold Carl Gimbel and Annabel Louise (Harrington) Gimbel. He grew up in Wichita and attended Wichita public schools. He graduated from Wichita East High School with the class of 1962.

Chuck was drafted and entered the U.S. Army on Jan. 3, 1967, where he served his country in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged on Oct. 26, 1968.
