Kathy J. Boyce, age 80, Burlingame, Kan., died Dec. 25, 2024. She was born in Wellington.

C.M. and Frances Wolfe Good, her parents, farmed in Sumner County. Leland L. Boyce and she were married June 20, 1969. After her retirement from teaching, she did volunteer work briefly in the Burlingame area and at the Helping Hands Humane Society in Topeka. She helped at the Cat Association of Topeka for more than nine years.

Rose M. Kunselman, 74, of Milton, died Friday, Dec. 13, 2024, at her brother’s home in Andover.

Rose was born Oct. 6, 1950, in Wichita to Richard Leroy Siegrist and Kathryn Marie (Hurlburt) Siegrist. She grew up in Rose Hill, where she attended Rose Hill public schools. She graduated from Rose Hill High School with the class of 1968, before continuing her education attending cosmetology school.

Body

Mary K. Billups, 82, of Viola, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2024, at Ascension Via Christi St. Teresa, Wichita.

Mary was born Feb. 14, 1942, at Severy, Kan., to Albert McQueen Ambler and Cynthia Bernice (Sexton) Ambler. She grew up in the Severy community and attended Severy public schools.

She was united in marriage to James Franklin Billups on Aug. 18, 1957, in her parents’ home at Severy, and to this union three children were born: Edward in 1958, James in 1960 and Belinda in 1963. The family moved from Wichita to Viola on Aug. 19, 1965.

Bruce Andrew Loper, 68, died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2024, in Wichita. He was born Jan. 24, 1956, to Marvin and Joyce (Reynolds) Loper in Wichita.

He loved working alongside his father and brothers for the family business, Loper Drywall. He enjoyed spending time with his daughters and grandchildren, watching football and hanging out with longtime friends at the local VFW.

He's in a better place and no longer suffering, comforted by the faces of those lost before him. He will forever be loved and missed.

Donald A. Berntsen, age 88, of Clearwater, general construction, passed away on Friday, Dec. 6, 2024.
Rosary will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10 and funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, both at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Clonmel.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria (Batemon) Berntsen; parents, William and Ruby (Chapman) Berntsen; son, Donald “Wayne” Berntsen; brother, Charles Berntsen II; and sons-in-law, David Horsley and Jim Dixon.

Iris Marilyn Heyer Pickett

Iris Marilyn Heyer Pickett, 88 died Nov. 30, 2024, in Hutchinson. She was born Dec. 1, 1935, at Goodland, the daughter of Harry and Lyda Kolacny Heyer.

She was a longtime resident of Cheney, and she spent her later years living in Hutchinson. She loved traveling the country on a motorcycle, and was one of the original members of the Woman on Wheels motorcycle club. In her free time you could always find her sewing, quilting, or with her family.

Robb A. Poe, 73, of Wichita, formerly of Milton, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2024 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.

Robb was born Jan. 26, 1951, at Harper to Robert Judd Poe and Geneva Grace (Morrison) Poe. He grew up on the family farm near Milton and attended Norwich public schools. He graduated from Norwich High School with the class of 1969 and later continued his education at Hutchinson Junior College.

Robb entered the U.S. Air Force on April 8, 1971, but was medically discharged on Oct. 25, 1971.

Robert “Bobby” L. Dillard

Robert “Bobby” L. Dillard, 72, passed away on Nov. 16, 2024.

Bobby is survived by his wife, Cammie; two sons and one daughter; two step-children; two sisters; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Bobby loved rodeoing, singing, traveling, spending time with family, playing cards, and crafting with Cammie. Bobby also loved cooking and was well known for his sausage stuffing and pecan pies. He will be greatly missed.

A celebration of life will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at Garden Plain Community Church, 230 N. Section Line, Garden Plain.

Jean Powell, 93, was born in Wichita on July 31, 1931, and passed away on Nov. 2, 2024, in Clearwater, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Jean was a homemaker, Kansas State Bank employee and member of Grace Communion. She loved to garden, play the piano, sing, travel, work crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and spend time with family.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Powell; parents, William and Frances (Morrison) Hill; siblings, Virginia Vosburg and Morrison “Buddy” Hill; and half-sister, Berma Vert.

Glenda King

Body

Glenda King of Haysville was born July 3, 1929, and she faithfully entered into the arms of her Savior on Nov. 15, 2024. At that time, she was reunited with the love of her life, John King, her parents, and siblings, who all preceded her in death.

Glenda grew up in Zenda until she was 16, when she moved to Canton, S.D. After graduating from high school, she came back to Kansas and worked for Boeing for 42 years as an illustrator.
