Donald J. Becker, 84, passed away, June 19, 2024, at his home after a long-fought battle with cancer.
He was born on Aug. 6, 1939, in Nashville, Kan., to William “Bill” and Rosa Hageman Becker. On Aug. 5, 1967, he married the love of his life, Lois Jansen, at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Wichita. They were married 56 years.
Don was a 1958 graduate of Cunningham High School and then served in the U.S. Army. He farmed and retired from Chevron Oil Company. He enjoyed all sports, hunting and fishing, and spending time with family and friends.
Eric J. Plush, 55, of Wichita, died Thursday, June 20, 2024 in Wichita.
Eric was born June 16, 1969 at Wichita, the oldest son of Richard Duane “Dick” Plush and Barbara Lynn (Burford) Plush. He grew up in Wichita and attended Wichita public schools. He graduated from Northwest High School with the class of 1988 before continuing his education at Butler Community College, where he played football for two years.
Eric began working for USD 259 in the maintenance department. Years later he worked for Walmart before unfortunately becoming disabled.
Lawrence (Rich) Richardson Jr., peacefully passed away June 14, 2024 at the age of 72 at the Cheney Golden Age Home. He was born July 16, 1951, in Wichita.
On July 15, 1972, he married the love of his life, Pam Shipley, at the Church of Christ in Kingman. They were married 51 years.
Mr. Rich enjoyed being a maintenance manager for a printing company for over 40 years. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting sporting clay, making music with his friends, and spending time with his family.
Inez Katherine Vohs, 83, of Haysville, passed away March 15, 2024, at Catholic Care Center, Wichita.
She was born Nov. 18, 1940, in Galatia, the daughter of Alfred and Clara Polzin Reif.
A longtime area resident, she was a funeral director and embalmer in various states.
Virginia Kay Crowell, 62, of Longton, Kan., passed away Thursday June 6, 2024, at her residence in Longton. Virginia was born on Oct. 27, 1961, to father Patrick E. Crowell and mother Sara Nell Odell.
Virginia enlisted in the Army, where she proudly served her country. While in the military, she also participated in volleyball and softball teams representing the Army.
Douglas “Doug” Alan Van Amburg, 74, of Goddard, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2024.
He was born on Sunday, Dec. 25, 1949, to parents Ruby (Roop) and Donald "Don" Van Amburg in Concordia, and was raised through childhood in Washington, Kan. In 1968, after the family transitioned to Wichita, Doug graduated from Wichita South High School and attended Wichita State University from 1968 to 1971.
