Cheney stays perfect with win at Clearwater

TSnews The Cheney Cardinals played the role of homecoming spoiler with a 5022 win at the Clearwater Indians last Friday. The Indians fared better than the Cardinals’ three previous competitors, scoring three touchdowns and putting up 318 yards of offense, including rushing for 182 yards.

Owls even record with homecoming victory

TSnews The Garden Plain Owls, coming off of two tough losses to a pair of defending State champions, took out their frustrations on the Belle Plaine Dragons in a 56-0 blowout. The Owls posted 21 points in the first quarter, and led 49-0 by halftime.

#1 Conway Springs wins battle against #2 Medicine Lodge

TSnews The Conway Springs Cardinals’ 45-24 win at the Medicine Lodge Indians was the first game of the district schedule, but it may well determine the champion in Class 1A District 7. Last year’s regular-season game, a 40-34 win for Conway Springs, give the Cardinals the edge over the Indians.

Lions beat down the Railers to go 3-1

TSnews The Goddard Lions turned in their most dominant performance of the season, a 41-7 victory against a struggling Newton Lions program. The Lions built a 41-0 lead over the the first three quarters.

EHS Tigers corral the Mustangs to remain perfect

TSnews A big first half powered the Eisenhower Tigers to their fourth victory this season, a 51-28 win at the Salina Central Mustangs. Already leading 14-7 after a quarter, the Tigers scored 27 points in the second quarter and had the Mustangs broken by halftime.

A&A Titans ground Eagles at Norwich

TSnews With 28 first-quarter points, the Argonia-Attica Titans defeated the host Norwich Eagles football team 48-28 last Friday and moved to 3-1 this season. The Titans also got an all-important district win as they opened play in 8-Man Div.

TSnews The Garden Plain Owls volleyball team turned in one of its better performances last Saturday when the Owls took second at the Douglass invite, winning four of its five matches on the day. Garden Plain defeated Winfield 25-9, 25-19, Augusta 25-23, 25-14, Kansas City Christian 25-12, 25-7 and host Douglass 25-16, 25-9, but lost to Hillsboro 14-25, 25-23, 17-25.

TSnews Logan McKim of Garden Plain placed fourth in the boys varsity 5K race last Thursday at the Goddard Invitational at Lake Afton. Two of his Andale teammates, Jack Cutler and Sam Pavelski, placed second and third as the team beat 11 other squads.
